What surface can I erect a marquee on?

Customers often ask what is the best surface for marquee installation.
A wide range of surfaces are suitable for a traditional or framed (clearspan) marquee. First up is grass, which includes a back garden, paddock or field. Football, rugby and cricket pitches, as well as tennis courts also provide a good base. Another good surface for marquee installation is a hard packed area of hard core or a car park. We often use tarmac or concrete areas and we can provide ballast weights if it’s not permissible to make ground fixings.

If the ground is flat enough, we can lay matting or carpet directly to the surface complete with a waterproof membrane underneath. To give a better surface for walking or to overcome wet ground, we can lay an interlocking floor which will follow the contours of the ground. Over this, we can fix matting or exhibition carpet from a choice of colours.

Where sites are undulating or sloping, we can fit an undercarriage to the boarded floor to make it level. For a truly first class floor, which can take heavy weighted objects, we can provide a ring beam cassette floor with jacks or props for levelling.
